Highlights
What's Included?
Description
An unbeatable pairing of activities in Kohala such as ziplining and a chance to swim in a private oasis is precisely the ideal way of experiencing the wonder and awe of The Big Island, and we invite all to embark on this incredible series of activities.
The Big Island is a place of plenty, a location where anything is possible and there's nothing to stop the brimming fun and excitement. In the northwest corner of the Big Island sits Kohala, a region that houses a healthy dose of the thrills and adventure that The Big Island offers so freely to its guests and locals.
The Adventurous Highlights
You'll start your journey through this culturally significant section of The Big Island on an off-road drive through a private reserve. Aboard our 6-wheel drive passenger vehicle, you'll see Hawaii's rich scenery and culture unfold around you while our expert guide fills you in on the importance of Kohala.
When you reach your destination, the real fun starts – a series of fun activities that bring you closer to Hawaii's natural features. You may take notice to the natural waterfall that serves as the region's most predominant feature, and it's here and the pool it filters out into that you'll go for a swim. Enjoy the crystal blue waters as they filter down from a mountain stream above, showing you the process of nature on The Big Island.
As you're wading around in the cooling waters, you'll hear the excited hollers of other travelers as they soar through the forest's thick canopies. After you've dried off a little, you'll follow their lead and embark on adventure through the same rich forestry.
Flying Through Kohala
Acting as the thrills of the Kohala Zip & Dip combo is a zipline ride through the dense jungles of Kohala. You'll make your way up into the canopies of the forest where you'll be introduced to the gear and lines you'll be embarking down. Over 8 different lines are available for you to zoom down, each one providing an incredible and new view of The Big Island.
As you fly down and enjoying the rush of tropical air, you'll be completely free to let loose and enjoy yourself thanks to our high-end safety equipment. As you survey the area around you, you'll also catch 6 different sky bridges and a rappel that serve as other means to traverse through the high canopies of Kohala.
Once you're back on the ground, you'll set up near the rim of Pololu Valley for a picnic lunch provided by us. It's the ideal and serene ending to a perfect day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Kohala Zipline is a full-participation course and riders control their speed and orientation. Participants should be able to reach above their heads to apply friction to the cable. Riders must weigh at least 70 lbs and the recomended maximum is 270 lbs. We do weigh-ins prior to zipping.
This tour is not for guests with back or neck problems, expectant mothers, or those with an extreme fear of heights. Guests with the following conditions should consult their physician prior to zipping: heart disease or cardiac conditions, asthma, diabetes, insulin dependency, severe allergies, or any condition that could require immediate medical attention. Participants should be in relatively good health, with no existing or previous injuries that could be aggravated by moderate physical activity.
We’re in the trees most of the time. We do a short walk between lines 2 and 3 and a short climb up about 25 stairs between lines 5 and 6. The first one is less than 50 yards, the second is about 300 yards. At the end of the hike, we’ll have an opportunity to use the restroom, and enjoy a light snack and water.
Both hikes do have short ascents and descents. The first hike elevation loss is approximately 40’, the second hike elevation gain is approximately 90’.
Water temperature varies by season and the amount of rainfall. Temperatures range between 65 and 75 degrees F.
For your safety, wear sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes. Tennis shoes or hiking shoes work best. Kohala Zipline does not allow Croc-like shoes, water shoes like Teva, flip-flops, or sandals. We recommend shorts, capris, or long pants and sleeved shirts or tops. Tank tops are not recommended due to the harness you’ll be wearing. Please bring a light-weight long-sleeve shirt, a light sweatshirt, or jacket, since we are high up in a forest, where the weather can change quickly. If you have long hair, tie it in a pony tail, don’t wear loose or dangling jewelry, and secure your sunglasses with a strap. We’ll provide you with the harness, as well as a helmet, and gloves. We’ll also have drinking water and a light snack available halfway throughout the course.
For the waterfall we recommend a bathing suit (can be warn under clothes), hat, sunscreen and a light jacket.
